Lady Jackets get first win

Jeff Davis High School’s girls basketball team got its first victory of the season Saturday afternoon in Alamo as Coach KatyBeth Jordan’s Lady Jackets took a 53-24 win over Wheeler County.
Brylee Wyatt scored a career-high 21 points, hitting four 3-pt. shots, to lead the victory.
The outcome was never in doubt as JD took an early lead and increased their lead throughout the contest.
Latrice Shivers and Bree Coney joined Wyatt in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively. Markyla Durden added 7 and Anna Grace Alligood had four.
Nikita Jones topped Wheeler with 12 points.
The win upped the Lady Jackets’ record to 1-7 while Wheeler fell to 1-4.
Last Tuesday, Jeff Davis hosted Atkinson County and the Lady Rebels took a 43-31 win.
The game was closer than the final score would indicate as Atkinson led by only two points at 26-24 entering the 4th quarter.
Coney’s 9 points topped the Lady Jackets. Wyatt and Shivers had 7 each and Zijanna Mincey and Alligood both added 4.
Northcut had 15 for Atkinson and McRae had 11.
Friday night in McRae, the Lady Jackets had another close game until the 4th quarter when Telfair outscored JD 19-11 in the final quarter to win 56-45. The Lady Jackets trailed by only 1 at halftime 20-19 and trailed 37-34 after 3 quarters.
Coney and Alligood hit in double figures for Jeff Davis with 15 and 12 respectively. Wyatt had 9, Shivers 4, Mincey 3 and Durden 2.
Telfair had 3 players in double figures as TyKristiany Jones had 18, Trinity Newson 11 and Hennessey Livingston 10.
Jeff Davis closes out the 2025 portion of the season this week, playing Pierce County last night (Tuesday) in Blackshear, hosting Telfair County Friday and traveling to Baxley to take on Appling County Saturday.
