Mr. Rufus Carter Jr., 68

Mr. Rufus Carter Jr. was the son of the late Rufus Carter Sr. and Mary Fedrick Carter. He was born Oct. 21, 1957, in Jeff Davis County. He attended Hazlehurst High School.
At an early age he joined Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
He was a truck driver for 41 years until his health failed. God called him home Nov. 9 at Hazlehurst Court Care and Rehab under the care of Community Hospice after a short illness.
He was preceded in death by his sister Gussie Mae Smith and nephew Rodney Smith.
Survivors include his son Rufus Carter III of Milan; grandsons Jordan Spell of Hazlehurst and Ahmad Carter of Mt. Vernon; great-grandchildren Kross Spell, Jensen Smith and Alaya Carter; nephews Donathan and Jonathan Smith of Hazlehurst; niece Naomi Smith of Hazlehurst; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be Nov. 21 from 4-6 p.m. at King Brothers Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Hazlehurst.
Services will be Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church, Denton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
