Girls, boys drop openers

Jeff Davis High’s girls and boys basketball teams opened their seasons with losses Saturday night in the Annual Hugh McBride Basketball Classic held at the JDHS gymnasium.
The girls of Coach KatyBeth Jordan battled in a close first half before falling 47-31 to Toombs County. The boys of Coach Thomas McAboy lost a heart-breaker to Turner County, 56-54.
In Monday’s action, the Lady Jackets played Wayne County and the Jacket boys met Camden County.
The teams go back in action next Tuesday as they travel to Lyons to take on Toombs County. Next Thursday, the teams are at home against Pierce County and next Saturday they travel to Pearson to face Atkinson County.
