Local couple’s grandson wins state title

At Saturday’s GHSA Cross Country State Championship meet, the Yellow Jacket boys and girls teams both finished 4th while the Bleckley County teams both won their respective state championships.
The Bleckley boys team had a distinctive Jeff Davis County connection as the Royals’ Jack Harrell won the individual state championship, running the 5-mile course in a time of 16:50.42.
Harrell is the son of Jeff Davis High graduate Brian Harrell and the grandson of Pam and Charles Harrell of Hazlehurst.
