Mr. Daniel Towns, 73

Mr. Daniel Towns, 73, of Hazlehurst, passed away Sept. 22 at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.
He was born Dec. 30, 1951, in McRae to the late Guy C. Towns and Christine Briley Towns. Daniel was known as a giant of a man with a heart to match. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing.
Daniel was admired for his impeccable work ethic and his strength of character. Above all, he cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, and he took his role as “Papa” to them with great pride and joy. He will be remembered for his generosity, his love of nature, and the unwavering devotion he showed to those he loved.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Guynell Kennedy, Wylene Haskins and Eloise Yawn; and brother Paul Towns.
Mr. Towns is survived by his wife of 52 years Pamela Davis Towns of Hazlehurst; son Waldon Daniel Towns of Snipesville; daughter and son-in-law Tiffany Towns-Reyes and Sergio Reyes of Hazlehurst; brother David Towns of Chauncey; sisters Wyoma “Oma” Johns of Danville and Jean Horne (Ralph) of Milan; grandchildren Briley, Bryaun and Maricela Reyes; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Sept. 26 in Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Horne officiating.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
