Good Ground launches ‘The Big Give’

As the leaves turn and the holidays draw near, Good Ground Food Pantry & Resource Center, is launching a powerful fall outreach called “The Big Give” — a mission to feed 300 families for Thanksgiving and bless 100 families with Christmas gifts across Jeff Davis County and surrounding areas.
For Good Ground, this effort isn’t new — it’s a continuation of a story of generosity and community impact that has grown from the ashes of disaster.
Just one year ago, in the wake of Hurricane Helene, they teamed up with partners from across state lines to provide Thanksgiving meals for nearly 700 families and Christmas blessings for more than 200 families. Families devastated by the storm found not only food, but hope — a reminder that even in the hardest seasons, neighbors still care.
This year, however, those out-of-state partners are no longer available — leaving the mission squarely in the hands of the local community.
And Good Ground is hopeful that we’re ready.
“We saw what was possible last year when people came together,” said organizers from Good Ground. “Now it’s our turn. When businesses give, communities thrive. When we give together, hope multiplies.”
The call is simple but significant:
For just $28, a person, family, or business can sponsor a Thanksgiving meal for a local household — providing everything needed to gather around a table and give thanks. Businesses are especially encouraged to partner with purpose and invest in impact, becoming a tangible part of the solution.
In addition to the Thanksgiving outreach, The Big Give will also bless 100 families with Christmas gifts — ensuring that children across the region experience the joy and wonder of the season, even in times of financial struggle.
Organizers are confident that with local support, the community can rise to the challenge.
Families in need of Thanksgiving or Christmas assistance will soon be able to apply through Good Ground, with applications opening in the coming days.

Because when we give — hope multiplies. “Sow with us!”
