Mr. Timothy ‘Timmy’ Curtis Long, 62

Mr. Timothy “Timmy” Curtis Long, 62, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully June 24 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.
He was born March 10, 1963, in Hazlehurst. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Long; stepfather J.E. Riner; and father-in-law Billy Fowler.
Timmy attended Jeff Davis High School, graduating in 1981, and attended McRae Methodist Church. His professional life was marked by dedication and excellence. He worked as a supervisor at Trane in Vidalia and had previously dedicated 21 years of service to Husqvarna. His commitment to his work was second only to his commitment to his family. A man of the outdoors, Timmy loved bird hunting and fishing. He found joy in the simplicity of nature, whether it was grilling for his family on special occasions or tending to his beloved farm. Riding his tractor across the fields was not just a chore but a pastime he relished. Above all, the moments he cherished most were those spent with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years Deborah Fowler Long of McRae; daughters Heather Ann Beecher (Jabo) of Hazlehurst and Candace Jayde Long of McRae; grandchildren Lanie Ann Scott of Douglas and Tenley Rayne Williams of Hazlehurst; mother Sandra Riner of Hazlehurst; brother Corey Long of Hazlehurst; aunt Debby White (Leroy) of Baxley; special uncle and aunt Jerry Hamm (Helen) of Hazlehurst; mother-in-law Catherine Fowler of McRae; brother-in-law Andy Fowler (Kim) of McRae; nephews Ethan, Dakota, and Liam Long; and many special friends.
Timmy fought a courageous battle as he was anxiously hoping to hold his soon-to-arrive great-granddaughter Rynlee.
As we say goodbye to Timmy, we take comfort in knowing his values are deeply rooted in the soil of his farm and in the hearts of his loved ones.
