School board has called meeting
The Jeff Davis County Board of Education held a called meeting May 27.
School Superintendent Dr. Chris Roppe presented the FY26 Proposed Budget and left it open for public comment and discussion. There was no public comment or discussion on the budget.
Dr. Roppe presented three proposals for facilities use agreements for the board’s review. No action was taken at this time. Dr. Roppe will draft a finalized agreement to be presented for approval at the June meeting.
Dr. Roppe asked for input from the board concerning new out-of-county students for the FY26 school year. Based on feedback from the board, Dr. Roppe recommended that the district not allow new out-of-county students for the coming school year.
The board unanimously approved for Jeff Davis County Schools to serve as the fiscal agent for Family Connections.
The board accepted the resignations of high school teacher David Poinsett and elementary school paraprofessional Angie Cook, voted to terminate the employment of primary school custodian Bruce King and voted to hire Joshua Gilbert as a primary school custodian.
