Mr. John Douglas Looney, 82

Mr. John Douglas Looney, 82, of Rochester, N.Y., passed away March 24 at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Looney was born March 31, 1942, in Johnson City, Tenn. He was a hard worker who was very successful and achieved all the goals he set for himself, graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Chemical Engineering and working for the same company for 35 years. He was a provider who believed in taking care of his family, and he truly lived up to the “Most Likely to Succeed” title he was given as a senior in high school.
In his spare time after retirement, Mr. Looney enjoyed reading, watching movies, tinkering with computers and software, and working outside in his yard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Rose Looney; and his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Glenn Hammond.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Sarah Rowland Looney of Rochester, N.Y.; daughter, Jennifer Shannon of Alexandria, VA; granddaughter Katie Snook (Jordan) of Miamisburg, OH; great-grandchildren Melody Snook and Maxwell Snook of Miamisburg, Ohio; brother-in-law Luther Rowland Jr. (Nancy) of Midway; sister-in-law Christine Anderson of Hazlehurst; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held April 2 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Minister Bobby Lairsey officiating.
Interment followed in Liberty Community Church cemetery.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
