County, EMS, Hospital working to solve EMS employee shortage

January 6, Jeff Davis County Administrator Shane Richardson held an Emergency Medical Service and Hospital Transport Committee Meeting. Among the attendees were the Jeff Davis Hospital CEO, ER Services Director, EMS Director and Vice Chairman Vann Wooten.
The initiative is an effort to solve the ongoing issue of EMS coverage and hospital transport services in the county. Currently both the county and EMS are working quickly to resolve the issue through effective policy and procedures necessary to meet the needs of the county. Additionally, Jeff Davis County BOC has implemented an EMT recruiting campaign that begins Jan. 21. The program will add five more full-time EMTs, giving the county the ability to have two full EMT crews 24/7.
Also, Phillips and Jordan and Debris Tech are continuing to pick up debris until the job is finished. They will most likely be working through the spring, but will not stop their cleanup until everyone is taken care of. The County Administration is continuing to monitor the progress and appreciates everyone’s patience. The county also has the Road Department marking places that need more attention. Any emails or calls about debris are forwarded to Phillips and Jordan, and followed up by the County to ensure the citizens are taken care of.

Hatton Still is messed up bad, a lot of debris is still on the road further out past the solar panels. Not one person has been out this way to help pick up, people have buildings down that are in the ditches and a lot of people’s kids throw the boards from blow down stuff in the middle of the road, being kids, of course, but a lot of us old people aren’t capable of going out to pick it up. Cars are still getting beat up and I wish I could help more but we haven’t got any help for debris out here this way. The county shouldn’t be any different than city but I understand the lack of help and we are making do, but I do see a lot of people working on roads that not a soul lives on. It is just a side road so why would that be priority? But anyway God bless an praying for our town to be able to grow and build back up!!
