Mrs. Myrtice Lou Boatright, 84

Mrs. Myrtice Lou Boatright, 84, of Hazlehurst passed away Oct. 5 at Memorial Health in Vidalia.
Mrs. Boatright was born April 12, 1940, in Hazlehurst. She was best known as “Aunt Myrt” and was owner of S&S Grocery. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was preceded in death by her former husband Norwood Shumans; son Gary Shumans; brother Clifford Lairsey; and sister Pearl Evans.
Survivors include her husband Billy Boatright of Hazlehurst; daughters Sherry Pickren, Marie Boatright Beecher, Barbara Boatright, all of Hazlehurst; grandchildren Melody Best (Shane Norman), Angie (Chris) Tanner, Matthew Pickren, Ashley (Eric) McEachin, Heather Shumans (Michael Hadden), Josh (Cindy) Carter, Ryan Shumans, Jesse (Tiffany) Webb and Brenna Waters: 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Oct. 8 at Satilla Free Will Baptist Church cemetery with Brother Bobby Lairsey and Brother Josh Carter officiating.
Active pallbearers were Ted Hartley, Matthew Pickren, Dylan Best, Jesse Webb, Ryan Shumans, Michael Hadden and Wilbur Breedlove.
Swain Funeral Home was in charge.
