Mrs. Madrid Hayes Adams, 87

Mrs. Madrid Hayes Adams, 87, of Hazlehurst, passed away after a brief illness Oct. 11.
Madrid was born Nov. 23, 1936, to Ivey D. and Clara B. Hayes. She was a graduate of Jeff Davis High School then attended Toccoa Falls Bible College. Madrid was married to Richard S. Adams Sept. 27, 1964. They were married for 51 years. Madge spent her life being a loving wife to her husband and a loving mother to her seven children. She was the secretary and bookkeeper that came along with ownership of two businesses with her husband, Adams Furniture and Appliance in Macon, then The Bargain Barn in Hazlehurst. They were members of First Alliance Church in Macon for many years, where she was the pianist for a time. She loved playing the piano and singing. Currently she was a member of First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and a kind and loving person who doted on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her husband Richard S. Adams, daughter Kimela J. Gay, daughter Denise L. Adams, daughter Nicholle R. Greene (Kenny), grandchild Cutter L. Jennings, father Ivey D. Hayes, mother Clara B. Hayes, brothers Carroll D. Hayes and Thomas W. Hayes.
Survivors include her daughter Debra L. Adams of Daytona Beach, Fla., Terry C. Lavender (Clay) of Statesboro, Vicki V. Adams of Warren, Penn., and Rebecca E. Adams of Jacksonville, Fla.; son-in-law Kenneth L Greene (Nicki); grandchildren Brian M. Jennings (Amanda), Statesboro, Hannah N. Pound (Gil) of Milledgeville, Sydney R. Greene of St. Augustine, Fla., Chelsea E. Wester of St. Augustine, Fla., Abigail L. Greene of St. Augustine, Fla. and Kimela D. Wester of Ormond Beach, Fla.; great-grandchildren Conner and Tre’ Jennings, Jude and Winnie Halkin, Norah Pound, Hayes Tibbs, Jack Packo; and a host of cousins and extended family .
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 9, at First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst with the Rev. Brad Waters officiating. Burial will follow at Union Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Nov. 8 from 2-6 p.m. at 20 West Sycamore Street in Hazlehurst.
