Mrs. Debra ‘Debby’ Lee May

Mrs. Debra “Debby” Lee May, 71, of Hazlehurst, died Oct. 14 at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Fla.
She was born in Hazlehurst May 15, 1953, to Quitman and Shella Mae Batten. She was a Christian by faith and attended Hazlehurst Church of God. She enjoyed sewing and even sewed clothes for her missionary friends. She gave of her time volunteering at Christian schools and loved to bake and cook for others. She was a loving, giving person who always saw the best in everyone. She had a genuine servant’s heart and was a caregiver to many throughout her life, including her mother, husband, grandmother and in-laws. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Donnie Batten and sister-in-law Mary Batten.
Mrs. May is survived by her husband of 53 years, Greg May of Spring Hill, Fla.; daughters Dina Marchant (Brian) of Doerun, Karen May of Spring Hill, Fla.; sister JoAnn Trowell (Larry) of Hazlehurst; grandchildren Tim Cook (Tessie) of LaGrange, Allison Creath (James) of Hawkinsville, Emily Lopez (Eddie) of Bowling Green, Ken., Josh Cook of Albany, Lane Marchant of Boston, Mass., Lindsey Marchant of Albany,, and Laken Getek (Sean) of Albany, Peyton May, Dilyn Mills and Alyvia Mills, all of Spring Hill, Fla.; grandchildren Alex, Liam, Naomi, Mariah and Gabriel Creath, and Arthur Cook; and many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held Oct. 21 at Hazlehurst Church of God with Pastor Brian Marchant and the Rev. Shon McEachin officiating.
A private interment for immediate family was held in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Tim Cook, Josh Cook and James Creath.
Honorary pallbearers were senior members of Hazlehurst Church of God.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
