Mrs. Cassandra Lynn Berry, 57

Services for Mrs. Cassandra Lynn Berry, 57, who died Oct. 17 after courageously battling lung disease, were held Oct. 26 at Bennett Tabernacle Church. Burial was at Hill Memorial Garden.
Cassandra was born Aug. 30, 1967, in Augusta and grew up in Hazlehurst. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School, where she was a member of the marching band and a cheerleader. Cassandra attended Valdosta State University on a band scholarship. It was there that she met her future husband, Arvin Berry Sr., with whom she would share 36 years of marriage.
Lovingly known as “San,” Cassandra was the mother of Amber Berry Courseault, Arvin Berry Jr., and Carlynn Berry, and grandmother of Arvin Berry III.
She delighted in sharing her culinary talents, especially her macaroni and cheese, Italian cream cheese cake, and sweet tea. She was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Falcons. Cassandra loved trying new restaurants.
She was preceded in death by her father Henry Kenzo Mitchell, mother Carolyn Elaine Mitchell, brother Kenneth Mitchell, nephew Reginald Mitchell, niece Twyla Kirby, and cousin and best friend Sonya Julie Fluellen.
She is survived by her husband, children, and grandson; siblings Clarice Wooten (Cornelius) of Warner Robins, Jean Christie (Gene) of Thomasville, Joan Givens (Frank) of Hazlehurst, Gloria Kirby (Rueben) of Hazlehurst, Bruce Mitchell of Hazlehurst, Canoris Merritt of Bluffton, S.C., Charles Mitchell Sr. (Kimberly) of Jacksonville, Fla., Darrol Mitchell (Katherine) of Atlanta, Pamela Miller of Atlanta and Johnny Miles (Naundus) of Hazlehurst.
King Brothers Funeral Home was in charge.
