Mr. Dannie Lee Selph, 86, of Hazlehurst, passed away Oct. 2 at Memorial Health Hospital in Savannah. Mr. Selph was born Aug. 16, 1938, to A.B. and Quinnie Selph. He was a native and lifelong resident of Hazlehurst and was of the Jesus Name Faith. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed watching wrestling and Brother Jimmy Swaggart, working on TV’s, playing his guitar, and spending time with his family. He worked for the city of Hazlehurst for 31 years and 9 months before retiring 18 years ago.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Curtis Lee Selph; sisters Magalene Allen, May Pearl Coley, Aberta Booth, Margalene Carter, and Marrion Selph; brothers Harvey and Preston Selph; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Selph is survived by his wife of 33 years, Wanda Selph of Hazlehurst; sons Charles Ogletree (Tonya), Joseph Ogletree (Carol), and Josh Ogletree (Brittany), all of Hazlehurst; daughter Lawanda Lott (Keith) of Hazlehurst; bonus daughter Molly Whitehead (Dwayne) of Hazlehurst; special children Heather Meeks (Collin), Josh Ogletree Jr. (Whitney), and Amber Ogletree (Francico), all of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Carmen, Joshalynn, Julia, and Jonathan Ogletree, Jayden Lott, Charlie Ogletree, and Preston Ogletree, all of Hazlehurst; bonus grandchildren April, Thomas, Carly, and C.J. Guin, Dawson Tanner, and Clayton Steverson, all of Hazlehurst; great-granddaughter Miley Meeks of Hazlehurst;great-grandson Sumner on the way, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral was held Oct. 5. in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Ogletree, the Rev. Winfred Nutt, and the Rev. Josh Ogletree Sr. officiating.
Burial was in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Heather Meeks, Collin Meeks, Jonathan Meeks, Josh Ogletree Jr., Amber Ogletree, and Timmy Mullis.
Honorary pallbearers were City of Hazlehurst employees.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home is in charge.
