Ms. Martha Sue Hughes, 70

Ms. Martha Sue Hughes, 70, of Hazlehurst passed away Sept. 13 at Jeff Davis County Hospital.
Ms. Hughes was born Feb. 19, 1954, in Baxley.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Mabel Griffin; sister Linda Faye Mathews; and brothers Linton Griffin, Glen Griffin, Larry Griffin, Tommy Griffin and Melvin Griffin.
Martha enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching western movies, and cooking for her family. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was a dedicated employee at Alco Controls for 30 years. She enjoyed her job and made many friends during her years there.
Survivors include her daughters Brenda Hutchinson (Mike Sr.) and Christy Thrift (Trent) of Hazlehurst; son James “Buddy” Hughes (Angel) of Hazlehurst; brothers Ray Griffin (Peggy), Dennis Griffin (Patsy), both of Worth County; sister Rebecca Eunice; grandchildren Michael Hutchinson Jr.(Mia), Tyler Hutchinson(Jania), Ryan Hutchinson(Alicea), Sabrina Turner, Gabriel Thrift, Zoey Thrift, Lily Thrift, Wyat Thrift; great-grandchildren Peyton Hutchinson, Mikah Hutchinson, Hailey Turner, Sarah Turner and Mason Turner.
Services were held Sept. 15 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Stinson and the Rev. Jinker Horton officiating.
Interment followed in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were former co-workers at Alco Controls of Hazlehurst.
Active pallbearers were Lance Griffin, Larry Griffin, Melvin Griffin Jr., David Young, Keith Griffin, and Greg Eunice.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
