Ms. Carolyn Ussery Murphy, 79

Ms. Carolyn Ussery Murphy, 79, of Hazlehurst, passed away July 10 at her residence.
Ms. Murphy was born Dec. 25, 1944, in Jeff Davis County. She was a nurse for 40 plus years (working with many great doctors and nurses) and a member of First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst.
She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas Burl Ussery and Lois Walker Ussery and husband Leonard Edward Murphy. She loved her family dearly, especially the grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her pecan pie, pound cake, red velvet cake and dressing and gravy. She was a giving, big-hearted person and loved everyone. She will truly be missed.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Doug Murphy (Carla) of Hazlehurst; grandson Austin Murphy of Hazlehurst; and great-granddaughter Brailyn Overstreet.
Services were held July 15 at First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst with the Rev. Brad Waters and the Rev. Jinker Horton officiating.
Interment followed in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Doug Murphy, Austin Murphy, Stanley Land, Wayne Murphy and Ronnie Murphy .
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
