Tennis hosts Valdosta

The Yellow Jacket Tennis Teams hosted Valdosta last Tuesday for senior night. The Yellow Jacket guys lost to the Wildcats 1-4 but played a very tight match on all courts. The Yellow Jacket ladies beat the Wildcats 4-1.
The teams celebrated eight seniors (4 girls and 4 boys). Seniors for the are Amarri Jackson, Cain Johnson, Bryaun Reyes, Mitchell Wood, Lexi Girtman, Demi Rush, Aleah Parker, and Noel Munoz.
Coach Mary Katherine Brown said, “They have really put in the work to make our program second to none. They have this spirit that you just can’t teach. I’m just incredibly proud of them on and off the court.”
Last Thursday, the Jeff Davis boys headed to Appling to play the Pirates. The girls had the match scheduled previously as well. However, due to a region play-in round, Appling County’s girls had to go to Pierce to play on the same date. The Yellow Jacket boys again lost a close one 2-3.
Last week concludes regular season play for the Yellow Jacket Netters. Both the Yellow Jacket boys and girls are undefeated in region (6-0). The boys finished up with 11 wins and 10 losses for the regular season and will go in as the #1 seed in the region tournament. The Yellow Jacket girls finished the regular season undefeated with a 20-0 record and are also the #1 seed going into the region tournament.
The girls will head to McKey Park in Valdosta April 9 to compete in the region tournament. The boys will go McKey Park April 10 to compete in the region tournament. Both the boys and girls will play the #4 seed in the first match at 9:30 a.m.
