Blue drops 2 of 3

Jeff Davis Middle School’s Blue Team lost two of three games last week, falling Monday to Bleckley County 5-3, defeating Bleckley 16-8 Thursday and falling to J.R. Trippe of Vidalia Monday 4-2.
In the loss to Bleckley, the Jackets out-hit the Barons 5-4 but couldn’t get the runs they needed. Gio Torres had a double, Peyton Jones had a single and an RBI, Zayne Chaney and Brody Tyner both singled, and Trey Ramay and Jacob Laney both drove in a run.
Seth Saunders took the loss on the mound. He went five innings, giving up five runs on four hits, walking three and striking out five. Jones pitched the sixth inning retiring all three batters he faced, two by strikeouts.
In the win over Bleckley, Peyton Jones and Jeremiah Davis both had two singles, a home run and three RBI. Chaney had a single and a double, Tye Rea, Brady Stevers and Torres each had a pair of singles and two RBI, and Laney had two singles.
Jones was the winning pitcher. He went 3 2/3 innings, giving up one earned run on five hits, a walk and three strikeouts. Stevers pitched 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on no hits, five walks and a strikeout, and Torres pitched 2 2/3 innings, giving up one earned run on five hits, no walks and two strikeouts.
Again J.R. Trippe the Blue team couldn’t get their bats working although Davis had a single, a homer and two RBI. Laney, Jones and Torres each had singles.
Saunders started on the mound and went 4 1/3 innings. He gave up two runs on four hits, walked five, hit three and struck out five. Laney took the loss in relief, going 2 2/3 innings and giving up two runs on three hits, a walk, a hit batter and four strikeouts.
