Jayvees split games

Jeff Davis High School’s JV baseball team split a pair of games last week, defeating Toombs County 3-2 and falling to Pierce County 2-0.
Noah Brantley hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh to lift JD to its 3-2 win over Toombs.
Zack Hulett had a pair of doubles and an RBI to lead the offense. Brantley had a single and an RBI, and Jonathan Bohannon and Andrew Hulett both singled.
Dawson Moser went the distance on the mound, giving up one earned run on six hits, walking one, hitting one and striking out eight.
Pierce County scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a scoreless tie and win 2-0.
The Jackets out-hit the Bears 4-2 but couldn’t get a run across the plate.
Brantley had a single and a double, and Ethan Baltazar singled twice.
Zack Hulett pitched well enough to win, giving up no earned runs on two hits, walking four and striking out 10.
