Gold Team splits games

Jeff Davis Middle School’s Gold Team split a pair of games last week, defeating Martha Puckett 15-4 and falling to Coffee County 12-11.
Against Martha Puckett, Karson Morris had a single, a homer and three RBI to top JD at the plate. Colt Carter had a single, a double and an RBI, Grason Tomberlin had a pair of singles and two RBI, Jamison Rowland homered and drove in two runs, Rylan Baxley had a double and two RBI, Kolten Powell and Bentley McClendon both had a single and two RBI, and Bryce Griffin and Brett Taylor both singled.
Tomberlin went four innings on the mound, giving up one earned run on five hits, two walks and five strikeouts. Carter pitched two innings, giving up one run on two hits, no walks and no strikeouts.
Tomberlin topped the offense against Coffee with a single, two doubles and four RBI. McClendon had a pair of singles and an RBI, Carter tripled and drove in a run, Morris had a double, and Justin Torres, Rowland and Weston Joyce had singles.
Torres pitched three innings, giving up two runs on five hits, walking one and fanning four. Rowland threw two innings, giving up five runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out two, and McLendon went one inning, blanking Coffee on one hit, no walks and no strikeouts.
