Blue Team wins pair

Jeff Davis Middle School’s Blue Team defeated West Laurens and earned a forfeit victory over Pierce County to improve to 6-1 for the season.
The Blue Team scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out an 8-7 win over West Laurens, avenging their only loss of the season.
Tye Rea had two home runs and five RBI to pace the offense. Brody Tyner had a double, a homer and two RBI, Zayne Chaney had a pair of singles, Gunner Partin had a single and an RBI, and Jacob Laney, Trey Ramay and Jeremiah Davis each singled.
Peyton Jones pitched four innings, giving up two runs on three hits, walking three and fanning three. Gio Torres pitched 2 1/3 innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits, walking one and striking out two. Laney picked up the win in relief, pitching 2/3 innings, and giving up an unearned run on one hit, walking one and striking out none.
The Blue Team earned a forfeit victory over Pierce County Saturday as a fight interrupted play with the score tied 13-13 in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Jackets entered the bottom of the sixth trailing 13-7 but scored six runs and had the go-ahead run on third when an altercation broke out at the plate as Jones scored the tying run on an error.
Davis had a single, a double, a homer and three RBI to lead the hitting. Jones had a trio of singles and an RBI, Torres had a single, a double and an RBI, Rea and Laney both doubled, Brady Stevers and Henry Richardson both had a single and an RBI, and Kallan Medders singled.
Ramay pitched three innings, giving up four earned runs on seven hits, a walk and a strikeout. Richardson threw two innings, giving up two earned runs on two hits, four walks and a strikeout. And Stevers pitched an inning, yielding two runs on two hits, no walks and a strikeout
