Ms. Irene Davis Wood, 79

Ms. Irene Davis Wood, 79, of Hazlehurst, passed away Jan. 28 at St Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah.
Ms. Wood was born May 8, 1944, in West Green.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Davis Sr. and Alice Mae Yarbrough, sons, James Anthony Wood, Keith Wood, brothers, Aldean Davis, Eugene Davis, and Robert Lee Davis Jr.
She retired as a bus driver for the school system, after that she babysat for several years and loved it. She was a hard worker and was a strong person when facing adversities. She enjoyed shopping, fishing and was a really good cook. Most of all she loved her family and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Wood Harper; brother, Johnny Wayne Davis; sister, Lerlene Coleman (Albert); grandchildren, Rhianna Patton, Keith Harper, Michael Harper; great-grandchildren, Mason Patton and Sawyer Patton; several nieces, nephews and cousinsd.
Graveside services were held Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Albert Coleman officiating.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
