Mr. Jerry Elvin Selph, 66


Mr. Jerry Elvin Selph, 66, of Hazlehurst, passed away Feb. 4 surrounded by his loved ones in Vidalia.
Mr. Selph was born June 12, 1957, in Telfair County.
He is preceded in death by his parents Odis Carl Selph and Hazel Brown Selph. Mr. Selph was an outdoors man. He enjoyed fishing at the river with his little dog Max and when he had the chance, he loved deep sea fishing. He enjoyed a good cup of coffee and chatting with family and friends. He always gave a helping hand to anyone that needed it and was there for many families and friends. He loved and was very proud of his son and daughter and bragged about them to anyone who would listen. He loved getting to spend time and talk to his three granddaughters. They were his heart and had him wrapped around their fingers. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army, became a volunteer fire fighter and found his passion in being an EMT.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sunshine (Wade) Moody of Ellabell; son, Dillon Selph of Valdosta; brothers Jeffery (Cindi) Selph of Brookhaven, Penn., Jamie (Leslie) Selph of Hazlehurst, Johnny Selph of Hazlehurst; uncles Harry Brown of Florida and Herman Brown of Florida; loving granddaughters London, Zoey and Alexandria Moody; several nieces and nephews; extended family Evelyn Davis of South Carolina and Ariel Cook of South Carolina; close family friends Sandy Medders, Susie Hollington and Lucas Davis.
Services were held Feb. 10 in the chapel of Wainwright Parlor Funeral Home.
Interment followed in Denton Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Brian Selph and Joe Selph.
Active pallbearers were Jamie Selph Jr., Josh Selph, Brandon Selph, Lonnie Brewer, Adam Carelock and Ryan Hillburn.
Wainwright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
