Boys are 5-15

Jeff Davis High’s boys basketball team has a 5-15 record thus far in the season but they have shown signs of jelling in their January campaign.
Six of their 15 losses came by less than 10 points. Since the Christmas break, the Jacket boys are 3-7 and four of those seven losses came by less than 10 points. While Coach Tom McAboy’s charges are showing signs of improvement, they seem to just not be able to quite get over the hump.
With a 2-5 Region 1-AA record and some tough region games coming up, the Jackets have an uphill battle to earn their way into the top four in the region. Yesterday, the Jackets faced a strong Dodge County team (16-2 overall and 6-1 in region play). Next up is Worth County (13-5, 5-2) followed by Cook (9-10, 4-4) and Fitzgerald (10-9, 5-2). Those are the top four teams in the region standings.
Dodge defeated the Jackets 59-23 in early January. Worth downed the Jackets by 11, Fitzgerald took an 8-pt. win over the Jackets and Cook downed the Jackets by 14.
The Yellow Jackets need at least two wins in their final five games, all of which are region affairs.
