Mrs. Patricia Charlene ‘McGaha’ Rubke, 81

Mrs. Patricia Charlene “McGaha” Rubke, 81, passed away at her residence Dec. 18.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lillian Thigpen McGaha, daughter, Trish Rubke-Hunt, husband, Karl John Rubke, and sister, Deloras McGaha.
Pat was born July 24, 1942, in Telfair County. In the 1950’s the family settled in Hazlehurst, where she called home till after graduation. After spending most of her adult life in Marietta, where she raised two kids, and was an at-home cosmetologist, she made a career move in the 90’s and went back to school to become an RN.
She worked many years at Northside Hospital of Atlanta on the OB floor as a lactation specialist. And finally at the young age of 62 she fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse practitioner, which she continued for several years past retirement age. In her spare time, she always had a love of cooking, working in her yards and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Terry (Cami) Rubke of Milton; daughter-in-law, Cami Rubke-Hunt of Athens; grandchildren, Cali and Addison Rubke and Bryce and Gavin Rubke-Hunt; brothers, Billy (Gail) McGaha of Vidalia and David (Karen) McGaha of Panama City, Fla.; sisters, Delaine McGaha and Joyce Darley both of Hazlehurst; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will welcome visitors and have a small gathering Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. at the home of her sister, Delaine McGaha at 589 Lumber City Hwy., Hazlehurst.
