Mrs. Janie Alice Dixon, 80

Mrs. Janie Alice Dixon, 80, of Hazlehurst, passed away Dec. 13 at her residence following an extended illness surrounded by her family.
Alice was born Jan. 2, 1943, in Ware County to the late Allen Lamar Burkett Sr. and the late Nelda (Burkett) Burnsed. She was a homemaker and loving mother and lived in Jeff Davis County most of her life. She loved listening to Gospel music, reading, but most of all spending time with her family.
Alice was preceded in death by brothers Edgar Burkett, Lamar Burkett, and Roger Burkett.
Survivors include her daughters, Velma Creech of Douglas, Ann Rowland (Jerry) of Hazlehurst, Sally Selph of Hazlehurst and Sheila Walls of Hazlehurst; son Tony Cole (Debbie) of Carrollton; sister Earlene Corey of Hazlehurst; brother Wyndel Burnsed (Sherry) of Douglas; grandchildren David Cole (Courtney), Tyler Cole (Megan), Brittany Guy (Brandon), Bridget Wright (Travis), Sunshine Moody (Wade), Dillon Selph, Alton Wilson (Jennifer), Jessica Lepe (Jonathon) and Michael Walls; 16 great grandchildren; and close family friends, Roslyn Powell and Joyce Roberts.
Services were held Dec. 16 in the chapel of Wainright Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Byron Griffis and the Rev. John Nunes officiating. Music was rendered by Charles Brantley, Tina Brantley, and Joyce Roberts. Interment followed in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Michael Walls, Alton Wilson, Dillon Selph, Travis Wright, Wade Moody and Lonnie Brewer.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
