A Special Letter To Santa

We’ve been taking Letters to Santa here at the Ledger for well over 50 years. Each year, a few make their mark as being outstanding, amusing, or entertaining letters.

This year we received what we think is the best of those 50 years. The best of thousands of Santa Letters we received over the years. And, just like Santa, we’ve read them all.

It was written by 3rd-grader King Jarrideau, the son of Keana Cray, and was submitted by King’s teachers at Jeff Davis Elementary School, Teresa Williams and Stephanie Smith. Ms. Williams teaches math, science and social studies and Ms. Smith teaches English/language arts.

We think you’ll agree that young King showed promising creativity and put a lot of thought into what he would write to Santa. And he expressed himself well.

Enjoy.

A letter to santa

Part 1
Hey santa, I wanted to ask you if I can get a sonic game. Please, I have been good this year because I have not broken a vase and did not kick the cat. I did not cry and I did not throw a fit. I did not pull the fire drill lever and I did not do anything bad and I did not do anything.

Part 2
Please, Santa, please, please, please, please. I will not do anything. Please, I will not do anything. Please, Santa, please, please, please, please, please, please. Fine! If you will not do anything, okay, fine. I quit.

Part 3 (the life of santa)
“No! I will not get you a sonic game. You are not good. Just stop, you are giving me a headache, kid, just stop.
(the kid) “Why not? Is that your job or not?”
(Santa) “Do not use that tone! Mister, do not use that! Now go! You are not good, so go to bed and when you wake up there will be nothing but coal under the tree.”
(kid goes to bed crying)

The end.

Sincerely,
King
