Mr. Eddie Lee Smith ‘Man’, 77

Mr. Eddie Lee Smith “Man” was born Feb. 11, 1946, to the late Isabella Faison and Wright Smith Sr. in Hazlehurst.
He was married to Lillie Mae Swinson and from that marriage, they were blessed with two sons, Eric (Veleria) Smith Sr. and Lorenzo Smith.
He was known for preaching the Gospel as a pastor in his early days, residing with the late Bishop Hightower of Hightower Memorial Temple.
Eddie “Man” loved traveling, cooking, and taking photographs for family memories. He was also best known for hosting the Smith/Faison family reunions. That’s where he had a passion for taking family photos for memories and bringing the family close together from all over.
He moved and resided in Jacksonville, Fla., and worked many years till he decided to retire. After his retirement, he returned to Hazlehurst to live until God called him home Oct. 16.
Survivors include sons Eric (Veleria) Smith and Lorenzo Smith; grandchildren Alexus Smith, Eric Smit, Jr., Shannon Ross, and Eriyanna Smith; special nephews Chuck Smith and Williard Smith Jr.; special friends, Mr. Davis and Verna Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Brothers (deceased) are Wright Smith Jr. and William Barney Smith, Williard Smith Sr.; sisters (deceased) are Thelma Smith and Dorothy Gauldin.
Chapel service was Nov. 11 at King Brothers Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapel.
Interment was in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery. Ministers were Pastor Calvin Wynn and Pastor Anthony Walker.
