Basketball play begins

Jeff Davis High’s basketball teams got their seasons underway earlier this month.
Nov. 14, Jeff Davis Girls vs. Toombs County
Jeff Davis dropped a 43-22 game to Toombs County.
Latrice Shivers paced the Lady Jacket scoring with 10 points. Destiny Ivory had seven, Alera Vann hit a 3-pt. shot and Claire Stinson chipped in two points.
Toombs was led by Aniyah McKinnon with 14 and Arianna Hill added 13.
Nov. 18, Jeff Davis Girls vs. Coffee
The Lady Jackets fell 78-14 to Coffee County in JD’s opening game in the Hugh McBride Classic.
JD’s Alera Vann hit a pair of 3-pt shots for 6 points to lead the Lady Jackets. Destiny Ivory had five, Markyla Durden 2 and Latrice Shivers 1.
Coffee placed four players in double figures. Leslie Bradford had 22, Tyriann Woodgett 18, Parris Riley 14 and Tekyla Handcock 13.
Nov. 8, Jeff Davis boys 55, Bacon 49,
Against Bacon’s boys, J.J Benjamin led the JD boys with 18 points, 10 in the 3rd quarter. L’Earl Conaway joined him in double digits with 10, Amarri Jackson added six, Caleb Brown four and Malachi Smith and A.J. Hunt two each.
Bacon’s Xavier Harris led all scorers with 22.
Nov. 13, JD boys, Lanier County 58, Jeff Davis 52
L’Earl Conaway topped the Jeff Davis scoring with 16 points. Amarri Jackson joined him in double figures with 10. Malachi Smith had 8, J.T. Bryant 7, Reggie Merritt 4, J.J. Benjamin three and Elijah Tobler and Caleb Brown 2 apiece.
Lanier had three players in double figures led by S. McGriff with 13, J. Clarkson with 10 and M.J. McGriff 10.
Nov. 18, Coffee boys 60, Jeff Davis 53
J.J Benjamin and Amarri Jackson scored 17 and 14 respectively to lead the Jacket scoring. Malachi Smith had 8, L’Earl Conaway 7, Marigus Sampson 4, Reggie Merritt 2 and Caleb Brown 1.
Coffee was topped by Junitho Benson with 19, Jordan Paulk with 15 and Jy’darius Odums and Khyolic Paul with 10 each.
