Ms. Valeria Toumbleston Herndon, 84

Ms. Valeria Toumbleston Herndon, 84, of Hazlehurst, passed away Nov. 9 at Jeff Davis Hospital.
Ms. Herndon was born Sept. 4, 1939, in Telfair County.
She is preceded in death by parents, Wade Hampton Toumbleston and Velma Johnson Toumbleston, husband John Edward “Jake” Herndon, daughter Cynthia Dale Herndon Cochran and siblings Ella Pearl Riden Hall, Walter D. Riden, Wade Jr. Toumbleston and Jerry Don Toumbleston.
Ms. Herndon was a native of Lumber City but had made Hazlehurst her home for the last 57 years. She was a great homemaker, consisting of being a loving mother, and grandmother and a great cook. She was the image of a true Southern Christian Lady that believed in her Lord and was a shining light for all to see. She loved her family dearly and will truly be missed by all.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Regina Faye and Freddie Kight; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Rhonda Herndon; brother, Stanley Toumbleston; grandchildren, Lacie Melaia Kight, Sloan DeAnna Kight Thimmes (Jeff), Mathew Kyle Herndon (Nikki), Balie Herndon, and Tristen Herndon; great-grandchildren, Jadynn Lana Halterman, Makaylla Kight, Savannah Kight, Rylee Halterman, Bentley Kight, Valerie Fenwick, Tucker Herndon, Callie Mae Herndon, Lilly Thimmes and Dylann Thimmes; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Nov. 12 in Bridgeford Church of God Cemetery with the Rev. Jeremy Deloach and the Rev. Keith Yawn officiating.
Active pallbearers were Dobey Cauley, Jerry Hand, Troy Johnson, Nick Rowell, Wadis Toumbleston and Stacy Toumbleston.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
