Mrs. Vernell Mincey, 86

Mrs. Vernell Mincey, 86, of Hazlehurst, passed away Oc. 27 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Mincey was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Bacon County to the late Joe Cothern and the late Geneva Taylor Cothern. She was a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was a member of the Pilot Club and served as President in 1976. She was a retired administrative assistant from Hazlehurst Mills. Mrs. Mincey was preceded in death by a brother, James L. “Bud” Cothern.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, James Mincey of Hazlehurst; daughter, Janet (Neal) Rigdon of Hazlehurst; sister, Ella Vern (Charles) Warren of Hazlehurst; sister-in-law, Faye Cothern of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Brooke (Brian) Hampton and Brittany (Kacey) Hurley all of Hazlehurst; great-grandchildren, Noah McNeal, Kenley Hurley, Georgia Davenport, Lillian Rigdon, Jackson Rigdon and Sydney Rigdon; and several special nieces and nephews .
Services were held Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Rusty Harper and the Rev. Charles Carter officiating. Interment followed in Oakview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Kenny Jones, Josh Chestnut, Greg Kight, Kevin Taylor, John Stinson and Michael Beecher.
Swain Funeral Home was in charge.
