State Elder Andrew Mincey II, 80

State Elder Andrew Mincey II was born to the late Andrew Mincey Sr. and Bertha Lee Pierce-Mincey July 10, 1943. He grew up in Emanuel County, then moved to Detroit, Mich. Later he moved to Hazlehurst where he met and married Deaconess Reabie Mae McCoy-Mincey a loyal and true soulmate for 61 years.
He was a member of The House of God Church in Hazlehurst. He assisted the late Bishop H. L. Harrison in building churches in Hazlehurst and Waycross. State Elder Mincey served as pastor of the Houses of God Churches in Uvalda, Waycross, Fitzgerald, Pembroke, Valdosta, Hazlehurst, Patterson and Nashville. He served as a Presiding Elder and General Elder in Georgia Diocese for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Deaconess Reabie Mae Mince; sons Edward Leon (Tomik) Mincey of Hazlehurst and the Rev. Andrew Mincey III of Hogansville; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Floyd (Georgia) Mincey of Hazlehurst, and Ricky (Linda) Mincey of McRae; sisters, Evangelist Carrie Lee (Deacon Reno) Thomas and Gloria Jean (David) Hargrove both of Hazlehurst; sisters-in-law Ellawese Mincey of Arcadia, La., Odessa Hall, Lovanna (Robert) Griffin, and Ollie Mae Harris, all of Hazlehurst; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Exhorter Gary Williams, Deacon Willie Earl Knox, Deacon Darrell Lewis, Deacon Charles Johnson, Deacon Charlie Mutcherson, and Deacon Shelton Hall. Honorary pallbearersare Elders/Ministers of the House of God Church, Keith Dominion. A viewing will be held Oct. 6 from 4-6 p.m. at House of God Church Keith Dominion, 11 Mildred Street, Hazlehurst. Homegoing celebration will be Oct. 7 at 12 p.m. at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church. Burial will be in North View Cemetery.
