Lady Jackets win two

Jeff Davis High’s softball team won a pair of games Monday to up their record to 22-3.
The 8-0 win over 3-19 Fitzgerald came as no surprise. But before that game, the Lady Jackets raised some eyebrows with an easy, 8-1 win over Class 4A Wayne County. Wayne came into the game with a 17-7 record and an 8-0 mark in Region 3-AAAA so the game was expected to be a close one.
In a battle of Yellow Jackets, JD scored a single run in the bottom of the first inning on an Ava Bohannon RBI single.
After Carrie Ellen Arnold struck out the side in the second, Jeff Davis added three more runs. Jaci Underwood’s sacrifice fly added one run and Claire Stinson ripped a 2-run homer.

Jeff Davis got two more runs in the sixth as Jenna Miles and Jaci Underwood led off the inning with singles. Miles scored on a Bohannon ground out and Underwood scored on an Arnold single.
