JDMS cross country competes in conference

The Middle School cross country teams traveled to Bleckley County Tuesday for the Middle Georgia Middle School Athletic Association Conference Championship.
The event was broken into three races: combined JV boys & girls race, Top 7 Boys Championship Race, & Top 7 Girls Championship Race.
In the JV girls race Boatright, Worthington (Myla), and Parlor finished third, fourth, and fifth place to lead the JV ladies to the conference championship. Tornero and Gonzalez rounded out the scorers for the JV ladies team.
In the JV boys race Jesse Galvan (16th) led the way for the boys team, which finished in 3rd place.
In the boys championship race Igancio Rubio finished 7th overall to pace the Jackets to a third place finish in the conference. Bleckley County took the team title while West Laurens MS was the runner-up.
In the girls championship race Mattie Claire Worthington crossed the line first for the Lady Jackets in sixth place. Two more Lady Jackets, Brandy Castro (8th) and Fernanda Valdelamar (9th) also finished in the Top 10. The solid performance by the remaining runners helped the team to a runner-up finish.
This was the fourth year in a row that the team has finished as the runner-up, each year behind Bleckley County.
