Ms. Valiree McDaniel Elton, 91

Ms. Valiree McDaniel Elton, 91, of Hazlehurst, died Aug. 12 at her residence.
Ms.  Valiree was born June 24, 1932, in Jeff Davis County.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carey Monroe McDaniel (Mr. K) and Mary Elizabeth Dixon McDaniel (Ms. Lizzie), husband, Cecil Clarence Elton, sister, Gertrude McDaniel Waldron, brothers, Herbert Edgar McDaniel, Carey Auburn McDaniel and Wilson Monroe McDaniel (W.M.).
Valiree could light up a room with her smile, sweet disposition and sweet gentle spirit.
She was a devoted Christian lady, and was devoted to her family and her church. At the age of 10 years old she made a profession of faith and became a life long member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. One of her greatest joys was the relationships she made with her customers during the years at Elton Décor Shoppe.
She was a great cook, interior designer, and seamstress. She and her husband, Cecil, loved to square dance, and she made all their outfits. She loved her family dearly and each one of them held a special place in her heart. She will be sadly missed by all.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lesa and Mike Stone of North Augusta, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Angie Elton of Alabama; grandchildren, Allen Stone (SoYoung), Pam Ramsey (Todd), Leigh Ryan (Zeb), Randall Elton (Debi) and Amanda Gossett (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Sydney Ramsey, Gracie Ryan, Lacon Ryan, Summer Stone, Kaden Elton, Maddie Gossett and Elby Gossett; special nieces Michele Creamer (Dwight) of Lizella and Regina Barton (David) of Hazlehurst; special caregivers, Melsina Robinson, Elvira Moses, Alma Haynes, and Willie Mae Boyd; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. at Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Yawn officiating. Interment followed in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
Ms. Elton’s Golden Age Sunday School Class, along with Melsina Robinson and Elvira Moses served as honorary pallbearers.
Randall Elton, Jeremy Gossett, Todd Ramsey, Zeb Ryan, Dwight Creamer and Jimmy Morris served as active pallbearers.
Music was rendered by E.H. Claxton and the choir.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made to Elizabeth Baptist Church, 51 Elizabeth Church Road, Hazlehurst.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
