Ms. Johnnie Mae Conaway Tobler

Ms. Johnnie Mae Conaway Tobler was a resident of Jeff Davis County, born July 16, 1938, to the late John and Lola Conaway. She attended school at Wheeler County Training School.
She was united in marriage to the late George Tobler. Ms. Johnnie Mae was blessed with seven boys and two girls. In 1964 she relocated to Newark, N.J., where she gained employment at Rutgers University Hospital as a security officer until her retirement of 23 years.
She was a member of the Northern Star and the Traveling Ladies. In 2000 she relocated back home where she became a long-time member of Antioch CME Church and loved traveling and spending time with her family.
She gained her wings Aug. 22 at home peacefully in her sleep. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings John and Bernie Conaway; children, Rosa Lee King, George, and James Tobler; and beloved grandsons, Malik McRae and Richard Dawan Capers.
Survivors include children, Franklin (Star) Conaway of Hazlehurst, Bruce (Alberta) King of Hazlehurst, Debra (Michael) McRae of Hazlehurst, Michael Conaway (special friend Elizabeth Hood) of Hazlehurst, Tony (Angel) Clark of Portsmouth, Va., Cedric (Ardria) Clark of Thomasville; loving God son Ricky Bush of New Jersey; 29 grandkids; five generations of grandkids; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
Active pallbearers were grandsons and nephews; honorary pallbearers were grandsons and nephews; flower attendants were family and friends.
Burial was in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
officiating clergy were Pastor Joyce Batten, the Rev. Henry Josey, Minister Rashaan Conaway, Minister Tammy McDuffie and Bishop Eddie Harmon.
King Brothers Funeral Home was in charge.
