Ms. Brenda Ray Anderson Kirkland, 80

Ms. Brenda Ray Anderson Kirkland, 80, of Hazlehurst died Aug. 11 in Jeff Davis Hospital.
Ms. Kirkland was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Jacksonville, Fla.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Anderson and Jane Elizabeth Wingate Anderson, husband, Eddis Jack Kirkland, brothers, Keith Anderson and Casper Anderson, sisters, Norma Weakley, Sonja Smith, Claudia Kellum and Cindy Durham.
Ms. Brenda had a sweet, sweet, humble spirit. She was a caring person, a great cook, enjoyed reading and trading books within the family. She was an avid Elvis fan, enjoyed his gospel songs and enjoyed the Gathers. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them, and her children referred to her as a Virtuous Woman described in Proverbs 31.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Renee McNeal (Rex) of Graham; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddis D. Kirkland (Phyllis) of Hazlehurst, Aaron C. Kirkland of St. Mary’s, Kenneth (Sam) I. Kirkland (Shelda) of Hazlehurst, Kevin (Tootie) Kirkland (Danielle) of McRae; sisters, Elaine Geoghagan of Jacksonville, Fla., Gail Cain of Jacksonville, Fla., Vicki Nelson of Mississippi, Lawana Trouille of Hilliard, Fla., Kimberly Anderson of Callahan, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Aug. 13 at Heritage Baptist Church with her son, the Rev. Eddis Kirkland and the Rev. Ronnie Wilcox officiating.
Interment followed in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Glynn Kirkland, Lance Kirkland, Ricky Lytle, Gary Kirkland, Heath Sellers, Mikey Kirkland, alts. Ted Hutcheson and Gunner Sellers.
Music was rendered by Ronnie Wilcox Jr.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
