Mr. Timmie Hansley

On Aug. 7, Mr. Timmie Hansely transitioned to his heavenly home.
Timmie “Tim” Hansley was born Sept. 28, 1957, in Hazlehurst to the late John Robert Hansley and Claudia Mae Benjamin Hansley. Tim attended Jeff Davis High School and Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute in Warm Springs. Upon graduating he utilized his excellent typing and technical skills at his place of employment, The Happy Land Center, in Hazlehurst. Tim continued learning and perfecting his technical skills throughout life. He was known by many as the local computer repair expert, mastering every technical device he encountered.
Tim was a member of Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church at an early age under the leadership of Elder James Pitts and Bishop Robert L. Fryer. Tim enjoyed traveling and playing guitar with choirs at many local churches and events. He was often seen in Jesup, Surrency, Baxley, Nichols, and many other small towns in South Georgia.
Tim had a love and joy of music, worship, and connecting with people. He didn’t let his handicap steal his enjoyment of life and took on the attitude of “Where there is God there is a way.” Tim met no stranger, and he was captivated by their stories. They too were awed or intrigued by him and his many talents; like playing the guitar by ear, repairing computers, and his excellent photography skills! He was proud to introduce friends and strangers to the acquaintance of his family and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Johnnie Hansley; and sister, Patricia Hansley-Jones. His jovial spirit and memories are fondly remembered by his brothers: Willie Hansley of Hazlehurst, Joe Nathan Hansley (Angela) of Douglas and Glenn Hansley of Hazlehurst; sisters: Carolyn Glover (Kenneth) of Broxton and Brenda Hansley of Stone Mountain; brother-in-law, Earl Jones of Stone Mountain; sister-in-Law, Rosie Hansley of Hazlehurst; a host of nephews and nieces.
Tim’s homegoing services were held Aug, 11 at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church. Words of comfort were provided by Pastor Gregory Crawford with Pastor Tara Woody presiding.
Thornton’s Funeral Home was in charge. The full obituary may be viewed at www.thethorntonsfuneralhome.com.
