Board recognizes primary school students
Jeff Davis Primary School principal Dr. Shelly McBride recognized the following students at the September meeting of the Jeff Davis County Board of Education:
Highest Lexile – 2nd Grade – Isabel Zarraga.
Highest Dibels – 2nd Grade – Elena McKinney.
Highest Dibels – 1st Grade – Lyric Toler.
Highest Dibels – Kindergarten – Nathan Camacho Benavides.
Highest MGD Scores – Kindergarten – Israel Eason.
1st Grade – Jayden Ipsen.
2nd Grade (three-way tie) Jacob Brantley, Bode Lawson and Turk McBride.
Dr. Adam Kirby recognized the Transportation Department, Transportation Director Alvin Merritt and Assistant Transportation Director Johnny Bohannon. Safety inspections were performed during the summer and all buses passed with no major deficiencies. The electric charging stations have been installed and buses are expected to be delivered in October. Dr. Kirby also recognized that National School Bus Safety week will be in October.
The board unanimously approved the Capital Outlay Projection – FY 25 (Low Wealth Advance for new K-2 School).
Finance Director Betty Corbitt presented financial reports to the Board.
The board unanimously approved the retirement of middle school nurse Sheila Taylor.
