Ms. Sonjia Lafay Eason, 78

Ms. Sonjia Lafay Eason, 78, of Hazlehurst, died July 31 at her residence.
Ms. Eason was born July 7, 1945, in Hinesville.
She is preceded in death by her father, Dennis Smith, and her mother and step-father, Homer Hutchinson and Lillie Mae Hesters Hutchinson, husband, John Allen Eason, son, Don Allen Eason and brothers, George Verlon Smith and Emmett Jr. Smith.
She was a homemaker, a great cook, enjoyed watching T.V. and reading her Bible. She enjoyed arts and crafts, and in her younger years she and her husband were vendors. She loved her family dearly and especially her little companion “Cookie.” She was a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church and will be sadly missed by all.
Survivors include her daughter, Wanda (John W.) Adams of McRae; son, Vincent Wade (Joyce) Eason of Hazlehurst; sister, Kitty (Randy) Dyal of Alabama; grandchildren, Amanda Leann Aldridge (Terry), Crystal Lafay Davis (Joshua), Nicole Eason,  Nicholas Eason, Joshua Eason, Matthew Eason (Glenda), Aaron Eason (Elizabeth), Landon Eason; great-grandchildren, Peyton Davis, Ty Daniel Aldridge, Kylie Eason, Skylar Eason, Blake Eason, Michael Eason and Addison Eason; great-great grandchildren, Elijah Allen Russell and Nyliah Davonna Russell; several nieces and nephew.
Graveside services were held Aug. 2 in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Lairsey officiating.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
