Mr. Martin Ricketson, 78
Mr. Martin Ricketson, 78, of Hazlehurst, died Aug. 7 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.
Mr. Ricketson was born March 22, 1945, in Jeff Davis County.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph J. Ricketson and Mamie Holton Ricketson, son, Harry Martin Ricketson Jr., three brothers and one sister.
He was a retired truck driver with Hazlehurst Mills/Amoco Fabrics and a member of Hazlehurst Church of God.
He was a gentle giant of a man, man of integrity, strong work ethics, always soft spoken, and a sweet disposition, also loved his family dearly, his wife, children, grandchildren and especially that little great-granddaughter. He will be sadly missed by his family.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Pope Ricketson of Hazlehurst; daughter and son-in-law, Selene and Kendell Ogilvie of Hazlehurst; brothers, Joe Ricketson of Mississippi, J.L. Ricketson (Vicki) of Baxley, James Ricketson (Tommie Jean) of Graham and (like a brother) Tony P. Hatton of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Kenlyn Batten (Jeremy) and Kade Ogilvie, both of Hazlehurst; great-granddaughter, Adaline Batten; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. in Hazlehurst City Cemetery with the Rev. Ryan Herrington officiating.
Mike Ricketson, Cole Harrell, Tony Hatton, Glen Rae, and Charles Gruber served as active pallbearers.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
