Petition Circulating
A concerned citizen in the Snipesville/Denton area of Jeff Davis County has started an online petition to stop the growth of solar panel farms in the county.
As of Tuesday afternoon the petition had been signed by 338 people.
The petition reads as follows:
The people and citizens of Jeff Davis County GA, especially residents of the Denton and Snipesville community say Enough is Enough! We agree that we do not want any more of our beautiful community sold to solar panel companies. These solar panel fields have destroyed the value of our homes, our properties, our wetlands, our wildlife habitat, and even our safety, while traveling on roads destroyed by their heavy equipment.
We invite you to come visit us, travel down McCall Rd., Archie Miller Rd., Denton Still Rd., Harper Rd., West GA Ave/Snipesville Rd.
Over 4,725 acres of land in Denton alone has been taken up for solar panels. Over 1,200 acres of land in Hazlehurst has been take up for solar panels. Totaling over 5,900 in Jeff Davis County. And, now a new solar company is wanting to aquire over 2,500 more acres in Denton and establish more solar panel fields. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!
They have hindered the growth of our community. Our future generations will have to pay for the decision made by a few people in this community and we say that we all have a voice. We have no idea what harm may come to the residents of this community in the future, because of the amount of solar panels that have been allowed to take over in the Denton/Snipesville area.
These solar panel companies invaded our community, while offering no benefits to us and our neighbors or our community. Therefore we say, NO MORE SOLAR PANELS!!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Now is the time to act, now is the time to let your voice be heard. Right now, discussions are being held to allow more solar panels in the Denton/Snipesville area. We say NO MORE! We have a right to say no more and our elected officials have to hear our voices and vote in the best interest for us, the common, hard-working people of this community.
