Tennis teams face Berrien

The High School Yellow Jacket Netters traveled to Valdosta to play Berrien at McKey Park last Tuesday.
The Yellow Jacket guys finished with a clean sweep against the Rebels (5-0). Coach Alan Mims and Coach Mary Katherine Brown both applauded the play of all the boys. The guys team has really rallied together, and they played an incredibly good match.
Coach Brown said, “I think it is the best I have seen them play together collectively. We are super proud of them and the way they represent JD.”
The Yellow Jacket gals knew this match was going to be a tough one with both Berrien and JD being undefeated in the region. The match determined who is going in as the #1 seed at the region tournament. Jeff Davis girls played their hearts out. All matches were extremely close, with tiebreakers determining the match for 3 of the 5 matches. The Yellow Jacket gals pulled out a 4-1 win against the Rebels.
Coach Brown and Coach Mims applauded the tenacity of the Yellow Jacket girls. Coach Brown said, “They never gave up. They continued to push through their matches even when things got hard and heated. I was incredibly proud of them on and off the court. Not only did our girls compete at a high level of play, but they carried themselves with class.”
The Yellow Jackets headed back to Valdosta to play Valdosta High School Tuesday.
