Tennis meets West Laurens, Sumter, Wayne

The Yellow Jacket Tennis Teams hosted West Laurens Feb. 27.
The Yellow Jackets girls grabbed another win with a score of 3-2. Presley Cox and Ava Coleman pulled off a doubles win for the Lady Jackets finalizing the win. The guys lost to the AAAA school, but they had several close matches. Amarri Jackson and Chandler Henry played 2nd doubles pulling out the only win of the day.
The netters traveled to Sumter for their next region match of the season Feb. 28. Both the Yellow Jacket boys and girls teams swept Sumter 5-0.
Coach Mary Catherine Kemp said, “Everyone played really well and kept their focus, even on a long bus ride. These teams travel well, and they have a lot going for them.”
March 2 the Jackets hosted Wayne County. The match started with a slight drizzle in the area, but both the varsity Jeff Davis ladies and gentleman didn’t let that stop them from making quick work of the Wayne Yellow Jackets. Both teams finished with 5-0 wins to conclude the week.
The Yellow Jackets traveled to Claxton March 6 and then region opponent Dodge March 7.
