Soccer boys suffer first defeat

The undefeated Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets went against Fitzgerald this past Tuesday.
JD decided to be aggressive early. After a string of passes on the left wing, Gael Valora assisted Fernando Vega. Fitzgerald decided to match the intensity. They retaliated by scoring a 25 yd banger bringing the game to a tie.
To start the second half, Fitzgerald scored again after a ground shot that barely escaped the keeper. The very next play, JD went back on the offensive. Fernando Vega crossed the ball to the left side of the box where Josue Avila stood. He passed it to an open Gael Valora, who promptly tied the game 2-2.
Determined to regain the lead, Fitzgerald sent a through ball up the middle of the field and scored again. They continued to press for more goals as JD tried to manage their onslaught. After a defensive mishap within the 18 yard line, Fitzgerald was awarded a penalty kick. Then the floodgates broke loose. Fitzgerald continuously chipped away at the defense until the last play.
Despite a hard fought contest, the game concluded with a heartbreaking score of 2-6, giving the Yellow Jackets their first defeat of the season.
On Thursday, Jeff Davis and Berrien met for the second time this year. After losing the their previous matchup against Fitgerald, the Yellow Jackets were eager to shake off the loss and redeem themselves.
JD was the first to score. During a corner kick, Josue Avila sent a cross inside the box to Gael Valora, making the score 1-0. After a great defensive effort, the score remained the same leading into the second half.
Not content with only one goal, the Yellow Jackets ramped up their intensity. Tony (The Torpedo) Toledo initiated a string of passes up the left wing. Then Pedro Gonzales led the charge and assisted Fabian Valdalemar. Despite the now 2-0 lead, JD was hungry for more. In the very last seconds of the game, Jose Lopez sent a big boot to Gael Valora. He controlled it into space and delivered a perfect pass to Fernando Vega. His ground shot was placed well and entered into the back of the net.
The game ended with a redeeming score of 3-0.
