Soccer boys lose two
Jeff Davis boys soccer lost a pair of matches to Toombs County, 5-1, and Appling County, 1-0, to fall to 1-3 for the season.
Toombs scored early in the first half. They sent a ground cross into the net and quickly followed up with two more goals. Going into the second half, morale seemed low but the boys continued to press and intercept balls down the stretch. Their hustle awarded the JD boys a penalty kick after Peyton Parlor was fouled. Gael Valora took the PK, sending the ball into the back of the net.
JD continued to press and was mere inches away from scoring several more goals but fell short.
The match with Appling was the second this season. Evident in the game, the Pirates were desperate for revenge after their defeat a few weeks prior.
JD and Appling were neck and neck during the first half despite JD dominating possession of the ball. Fernando Vega led the charge, taking the majority of the shots but he failed to secure a goal.
In the second half, the Pirates were awarded a corner kick, they opted for a short pass outside the 18. After a string of passes, they crossed it inside where it was deflected into the goal, giving the Pirates a 1-0 lead. Jeff Davis failed to retaliate and lost the match.
