Lady Jackets continue to roll

Jeff Davis Tennis started last week off by hosting the Brantley County Herons. The Lady Jackets played a close match and pulled out a 3-2 win.
Aleah Parker and Presley Cox played second doubles for the Lady Jackets pulling a 6-3, 6-2 win. They played incredibly smart and placed balls really well.
The guys were swept 0-5 against the Herons. Cain Johnson and Alan Lopez went into a tiebreaker against the Herons at first doubles, in the closest match of the day. Both Alan and Cain gave it their all and never gave up on a point.
Thursday, the Yellow Jackets faced off against the old region rival, Bacon County. The Lady Jackets won 4-1 against the Raiders. Noel Munoz played her first singles match against the Raiders at the number 3 spot. Once she settled in, she played a really great match moving her opponent often.
Cori Mims played the number one singles spot in this match. She played aggressively, and made quick work of beating her opponent.
The Yellow Jacket boys lost another close match with a 2-3 score. Marquez Patterson played the number one spot against Jeremy Bourdeau. Coach Kemp bragged on his play stating, “Marquez played really smart against a tough opponent. He stood up for himself when line judges were called, and he kept his sportsmanship throughout the match.”
Jeff Davis varsity tennis will host Ware County Feb. 23 at 4 p.m.
