JDMS Gold splits two

Jeff Davis Middle School’s Gold Team split its first two games, defeating Wheeler County 11-8 and falling 17-0 in three innings to West Laurens Middle School.
In the win over Wheeler, David Calderon was 2-for-3, Owen King was 2-for-3 with an RBI and three stolen bases, Bentley McLendon had a single and two RBI, Weston Joyce singled and drove in a run, and Jamison Rowland, Rylan Baxley and Noel Horne each singled.
Grayson Tomberlin picked up the win on the mound. He threw three innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits, walking none, hitting one and striking out six. Kallan Medders pitched 2 1/3 innings, giving up two earned runs on two hits, walking three and striking out six. Henry Richardson pitched 2/3 inning, giving up three runs on three hits, walking two and striking out none.
Against West Laurens, Kallan Medders had a lead-off single in the second inning but only made it to third
Owen King was hit by a pitch in the third but he, too, was unable to score.
