JDMS Blue splits pair

Jeff Davis Middle School’s Blue Team split two games last week, rolling over Dodge County 14-0 and falling to Pierce County 8-4.
The Young Jackets banged out eight hits against Dodge and Zack Hulett and Peyton Jones combined for a one-hitter on the mound.
Jacob Laney had a single, a double and two RBI to lead the offense. Noah Brantley had a pair of singles and two RBI, Jeremiah Davis had a single, a double and one RBI, Giovanni Torres singled and drove in a run, Hulett singled, and Josh Worthington and Jones both drove in two runs.
Hulett started on the mound and pitched three innings, picking up the win. He gave up one hit, walked two, hit three and struck out six. Jones pitched the final two innings, blanking Dodge on no hits, a walk and a strikeout.
In the Pierce game, Jeff Davis out-hit Pierce 7-4 but six JD errors led to five unearned runs to enable the Bears to escape with the win.
Tye Rea with a pair of singles and an RBI topped the Blue offense. Worthington had a pair of singles, Jones singled and drove in two runs, Hulett had a single and an RBI, and Laney singled.
Laney suffered the loss on the mound, giving up three earned runs in three innings, hitting one, walking four and striking out three. Worthington threw three innings, giving up no runs on one hit, walking four and fanning two. Seth Saunders pitched an inning, blanking Pierce on two hits, no walks and a strikeout.
